Baylor College of Medicine began its inaugural summer internship program in June 2014 and will continue the program for the summer of 2015. This program is designed to provide students the opportunity to enhance their personal development, as well as their understanding of Baylor College of Medicine, and its affiliated clinical and academic partners. The program is open to rising high school juniors and seniors, college students, and graduate students. The internship is unpaid and does not include housing. Selected participants are responsible for securing their own housing and transportation. There is a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week. Bonnie Weisman, Executive Director of Human Resources, and Erin Cannon, Director of Clinical Business Services, support the Summer Internship Program by serving as the program preceptors. In this role, they will be screening and matching applicants to departments based on interests and availability. They will also be responsible for the education and development of the intern and provide supervision and guidance during the Internship. Melanie Gregory, Recruiter Assistant and HR Specialist, will also support the program. The internship supervisor will be assigned based on the area of the internship. The intern will be matched to the appropriate department based on interests and availability. The internships are not structured to provide opportunities to shadow clinical physicians or conduct research in a lab environment.л_ Administrative internships expose students to the roles that support the clinical, research, and education missions of the institution. Application Due Date: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, but the deadline is л_March 31, 2015. Interview Process: Applicants will be notified of their status within two weeks after their application has been submitted. Each department will be responsible for conducting interviews and selecting candidates.
