Learn more about our medical programming by watching the following video. You will gain tools to prepare you for medical school and later for a career in medicine. In this course, you will get a snapshot of a first-year medical school curriculum as you study topics ranging fromл_neuroscience and pathology to anatomy, immunity, cardiology, and endocrinology.л_The course includes lectures, laboratory work and fieldwork components. Labs mayл_include patient simulations, blood pressure testing,л_light microscopic examination of prepared slides and dissections. Students who are interested in Medicine may also be interested in a second course or program such as: Fundamentals of Anatomy Fundamentals of Neuroscience Forensic Science Institute Leadership Institute Medical Institute *Core topics and hands-on experience are subject to change. Faculty Biography Malika Danner, Academic Director Dr. Malika Danner is Academic Director of the Fundamentals of Medicine summer course at Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies. She has an extensive background in biomedical research, teaching and applied clinical knowledge. л_Dr. Danner has spent more than ten years teaching health and science, and served as a mentor for the US Department of Education_Сйs Upward Bound/TRIO summer programs in the Washington, DC area. Dr. Danner has also led workshops on topics including health, disease and nutrition for various organizations and learning institutions for the past five years.л_ Dr. Danner was attracted to the field of medicine at an early age and later decided to become a doctor to fulfill her passion for healing the sick through disease intervention, prevention, and education. In 2002, she received a Master_Сйs Degree in Microbiology and Immunology from Georgetown University. She subsequently worked for the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center for five years where she co-authored three publications in peer-reviewed journals for cancer research. In 2013, she earned a Doctorate of Medicine from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, WI. While in medical school she gained hands-on clinical experience and honed her didactic learning and teaching strategies through peer tutoring and study group exercises. In addition to practicing medicine, Dr. Danner aspires to become a leader and advocate for women & children_Сйs health education locally and globally and has volunteered for health mission projects in five countries in South America, Asia and Africa.л_ Dr. Danner is a regular participant of Child Family Health International, a non-profit organization that is recognized by the United Nations. She is also a certified Integrative Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, NY.
