Description

Fall Visit Scholarship Program: Who is invited? Approximately 85 high school seniors from underrepresented socioeconomic, racial and cultural backgrounds are invited to an all-expenses paid visit to Whitman during the fall or spring semesters. What will students do? Visiting students will experience life on our campus by staying with a student host in a residence hall, eating in our dining halls, visiting up to two classes, and meeting with an admission officer, coaches, faculty, staff and student leaders upon request. Students visiting during the Fall Visitors' Day program will also have an opportunity to attend information sessions about study abroad, athletics, and a variety of other academic and extra-curricular programs. When is this program? Visits will be scheduled over two Visit Scholarship Weekends. Visit Scholarship Weekend I will be October 13-15. During Visit Scholarship Weekend I, students have the opportunity to visit campus during Fall Visitors' Day where they can also attend information sessions about study abroad, athletics, and a variety of other academic and extra-curricular programs. Visit Scholarship Weekend II will be November 6-8. Why should I apply? The Visit Scholarship Program is one way we seek to increase socioeconomic and multicultural diversity at Whitman College. It provides the opportunity for students who might not otherwise visit Whitman and experience our campus community. Visit Scholarship Program participants will also be considered for the Lomen-Douglas Scholarship (described below). Who should I contact and how do I apply? If you have any questions about the Visit Scholarship Program, please contact admission@whitman.edu. To be considered for the Scholarship weekend, you must complete an online application. There are two (2) application deadlines: Visit Scholarship Weekend I: Students hoping to visit Whitman over the weekend of October 13-15 must submit their application by September 16, 2016. Applicants will be notified by September 26,2016 of their selection for the program. Visit Scholarship Weekend II: Students hoping to visit Whitman over the weekend of November 6-8 must submit their application by September 30, 2016. Applicants will be notified by October 10, 2016 of their selection for the program.
